free可用作形容詞，表示隨心所欲的，不受約束的用作動詞，有釋放，解除等含義用作副詞有免費，脫離束縛的含義。

free的用法

1、表示“自由的”、“自發的”、“獨立自主的”等義，有比較等級的變化 (freer，freest)表示“空閒的”、“空著的”、“免費的”等義，沒有比較等級變化.如：

He gets a free afternoon oncea week.他每週有一個下午空閒.

Are the drinks free?這飲料是免費的嗎?

2、be free to do sth 可以自由地做某事.如：

Please feel free to askquestions.有問題請隨便問.

3、be free with 對…隨便.如：

Don’t be too free with your parents.對你父母的態度不能太隨便.

4、表示“免除…”或“無…的”，可以用be free of和be freefrom：相比之下，後者指免除或擺脫，多用來指一些不好的東西.試比較：

(1) be free of charge 免費

be free of debts沒有債務

be free of rent 免收租金

be free of the station 不在 (離開)車站

(2) be free from pain (disease，fear，danger，error) 沒有痛苦 (疾病，恐懼，危險，錯誤)
