to，形容詞

1、be accustomed to 習慣於

He was accustomed to hard work. 他習慣於幹累活。

This is not the kind of treatment I am accustomed to. 這不是我慣常受到的那種待遇。

【注】有時其中的 be 也可換成其他聯絡動詞（如 get， grow， become 等）。如：

I soon got accustomed to his strange ways. 我不久就習慣了他那些奇怪的做法。

其中的to通常被視為介詞，後接名詞或代詞，若接動詞，則用動名詞。如：

He got accustomed to taking long walks. 他習慣於長途步行。

但有時也可將其中的to視為不定式符號，後接動詞原形。如：

When have I ever been accustomed to be treated like this? 我什麼時候吃過這一套?

2、be blind to 對……視而不見（一無所知）

He is completely blind to her faults. 他一點兒也覺察不到她的錯誤。

We must not be blind to the suffering of others. 我們不能對別人的痛苦視而不見。

His passion for her made him blind to everything else. 他強烈地愛著她，對其他一切都已熟視無睹。

3、be close to 與……很接近

You are too close to me. 你太靠近我了。

Our house is close to the bus stop. 我們家緊鄰公共汽車站。

4、be contrary to 與……相反不顧

The result is contrary to expectation. 結果與預料的恰恰相反。

Contrary to all advice， he started to climb the mountain. 他不顧大家的勸告，開始爬那座大山。

5、be cruel to 對……很殘忍虐待

He was cruel to his parents. 他虐待父母。

I’ve always wondered why they were so cruel to animals. 我一向納悶他們為什麼對動物這殘酷。

6、be deaf to 對……聽不進（置之不理）

He was deaf to all advice. 他聽不進任何勸告。

He was deaf to all requests for money. 他對要錢的請求一概置之不理。

7、be dear to 對……很親切，對……很寶貴

He lost everything that was dear to him. 他失去了自己珍愛的一切東西。

Honour is dearer to him than life. 對他來說，榮譽比生命更重要。

8、be devoted to 致力（獻身）於專用於喜歡（疼愛）

The students are devoted to their studies. 學生們專心於學習。

Her life was devoted to the cause of justice. 她為正義事業而獻身。

She is devoted to her children. 她疼愛她的孩子。

【注】其中的 to 是介詞，後接動詞時要用動名詞。如：

This dictionary is devoted to explaining word usage. 這本詞典是解釋詞的用法的。

9、be due to 應給予，應屬於，應歸於

The credit is due to you. 榮譽應該歸於你。

Respect is due to older people. 年長者應受到尊重。

Our grateful thanks are due to you. 我們衷心感謝你。

【注】be due to後若接動詞原形，則表示“按計劃或預定要做(發生)某事”，此時的to不是介詞，而是不定式符號。如：

He is due to leave very soon. 他很快就要離開。

His book is due to be published in October. 他的書計劃10月份出版。

10、be equal to 與……一樣等於能勝任（應付）

Mary is equal to Bill in brains. 瑪麗與比爾頭腦一樣聰明。

I’m not equal to the position. 我不能勝任這項工作。
