為什麼cloth變複數又加s和es

① cloth 不可數名詞，意為“布料，抹布”

比如：她定了點布料來做一套新裙子

She ordered some cloth to make a new dress.

② clothes 複數名詞，可以理解為很多塊布拼起來的“衣服”，所以cloth變複數+es-變成了clothes.

比如：我喜歡你今天穿的這套衣服

I like these clothes you’re wearing today.

③ clothing 不可數名詞，“服裝”的總稱

比如：clothing industry--服裝行業

clothing store---服裝店

cloth 是“布， 織物， 衣料”的總稱，一般情況都用其單數形式。它的複數形式不是clothes，而是cloths。

clothes 本身是一個單詞，意為“衣服”，意是複數意義。

She bought some cloth to make some new dresses/clothes。    

她買了一些布來做些新衣服。

cloth不加-s

如：

I need a lot of cloth if I'm going to make a long dress。

如果我要做一件長連衣裙的話，我需要很多布。
